The Poetry Place #12 with Alison Lock and Louise Warren
27th December 2020 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm
Take time out from the turkey or nut roast leftovers to listen in to the next edition of The Poetry Place on Sunday December 27th at 4pm, when Dawn Gorman will welcome two widely-published, prize-winning poets, Alison Lock and Louise Warren, to the guest spotlight.
Louise is reading poems from her magical pamphlet John Dust (out last year from V Press) – John Dust is a fictional Everyman character who walks among apples, owls and hedgerows conjuring riddles and folklore from the Somerset landscape. Meanwhile, Alison’s work also focuses on the relationship between people and the environment, and memorably so in Lure, her new book from Calder Valley Poetry. It’s hauntingly-told account of her accident while out walking, and subsequent recovery – we’re thrilled that she’s agreed to share some of this poetic sequence of personal transformation with us on the show.
Look out for open mic contributions too, from local and not-so-local poets Wendy Klein, Prathiba Veronica Castle, Ray Fussell, Gail Foster, Greg Spiro, Frances Owen, Ann Preston, Eileen Ann Gordon and Donall Dempsey, to help welcome in the new year.
The Poetry Place is a monthly poetry magazine programme bringing you news, views, readings and interviews from today’s poetry community, both locally and further afield. Presented by Dawn Gorman and Peter O’Grady, it brings inspiration and food for thought for everyone, from those who enjoy listening to the occasional poem, to people writing and publishing their own work.
